Having just read The Answer by John Assaraf, I was inspired to start a 30-day trial of a neural reconditioning routine. You may be asking yourself… what is neural reconditioning? Allow me to explain.
In essence, what this routine will accomplish is carving out new empowering beliefs that I’ve picked out and override old, limiting beliefs through a routine combining both repetition and impact. This is accomplished through a basic routine 3 times daily of meditation, visualization and affirmation for at least 30 days. The goal is to then begin taking new actions based on these new beliefs as they become more and more familiar to you.
Here are a few of the new beliefs that I’ve chosen to carve into my neurology using this process. I have a total list of about 25.
- I am an incredibly sharp and magnetic business professional
- Success and abundance flow effortlessly to me
- I have absolute certainty in my ability to generate any amount of income I choose
- I am attracting amazingly talented and influential people into my business every single day
- I’m incredibly passionate and juiced about every area of my life
As mentioned before, the basic routine is meditation, visualization and affirmation. What I’ve done is recorded all of my affirmations using a software that mixed it with cool music and makes it sound more hypnotic.
I also went ahead and recorded my future vision story by writing out a letter from my future self. My future self is writing to me from a villa on a tropical island, telling me how amazing life is when I’ve accomplished my one major definite purpose. It’s a vividly descriptive and emotionally stirring picture of all aspects of my life – physical, financial, spiritual, relational, and fulfillment-oriented. This particular letter is just under 3 minutes when recorded.
So 3 times daily, right upon awakening, mid-afternoon, and right before bed, I start with a 7-10 minute simple breath meditation to drop my brain waves into alpha frequency. I then listen to my future letter, describing in first person, vivid detail what my life is like. I really absorb myself in the picture and feel what complete abundance feels like. I then get absorbed by my list of affirmations, spoken slowly and hypnotically. Not too difficult, you just get to sit back and relax.
The book lays out all the science and theory behind this process, which I found very interesting. I’ll keep you all posted.

Sounds very promising. I’d love to try it. What was the software you used to record your affirmations over music?
Audacity was the most simple. Record your voice and then overlay a track, export as mp3 and sync to iPod. Done. Enjoy!
